The Knowledge Strategy group in the NY office has a need for a full time or part time (4 days/week) Knowledge Strategy lawyer with an M&A background and at least 4 years’ experience at a large law firm. The position will be responsible for developing the knowledge strategy for designated practices and implementing projects and initiatives to meet their practices’ know-how needs. Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining designated practice sites and other know-how repositories, curating practice sites content and ensuring they are in line with the needs of the practice and kept up to date.
- Meeting regularly with lawyers who have expertise relevant to the practice, and facilitating sharing of quality know-how and expertise. Responding to queries from lawyers to identify know-how.
- Researching, monitoring and informing the practice of legal and industry developments and trends.
- Training lawyers and promoting use of department’s Knowledge Management resources.
- Liaising with users to gather feedback.
- Working with other Knowledge Strategy lawyers and other departments to share best practices with them.
- Assisting with the development of new practice tools, reengineering processes for greater efficiencies and advising the Knowledge Strategy partners on improved processes and new technologies for the practices.
Qualifications
- Background in M&A preferred
- Knowledge of relevant firm computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems
- Proficiency in using the Slate (Intranet) content manager
- Ability to discern when to seek advice or guidance with regard to posting material

- Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing

Experience/Education
- J.D. Degree
- Minimum of four years’ related experience; experience at a large law firm preferred
