Mayumi Soh of Pinsent Masons MPillay, the Singapore joint law venture between MPillay and Pinsent Masons, said: “The recent increase in number of VTLs will surely be seen as a sign of the world slowly reopening again. It remains to be seen what impact, if any, the identification of the Omicron variant will have on these VTLs.”

Fully vaccinated travellers from VTL countries will be allowed to enter Singapore without quarantine requirements and will instead need to take Covid-19 tests. Children under 12 years old who are not vaccinated will be allowed to enter Singapore if they are accompanied by a VTL traveller who meets all the VTL requirements.

VTL travellers are required to provide a digital proof of vaccination in a form recognised by the Singapore authorities. The proof must be authenticated as being issued by a trusted issuer and belonging to the VTL traveller.

Fully vaccinated Singaporeans have been able to travel to Thailand without quarantine since 1 November and to Cambodia since 15 November.

VTL travellers must have stayed only in one or more VTL countries in the last 14 consecutive days before going to Singapore. They must take a Covid-19 test within two days before departing for Singapore and obtain a negative test result.
