Politician and lawyer Lim Tean was arrested by three plainclothes police officers from the Commercial Affairs Department (CAD) at his People’s Park Centre office at Friday morning. He was brought back to the station for investigation. According to witnesses, the Police came to arrest Mr Lim for not turning up for the scheduled interview while it is noted that Mr Lim’s counsel had written to the Police earlier about the matter. Mr Lim who heads the Peoples Voice Party, is also representing Leong Sze Hian in his defence against defamation suit filed by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. The suit is to be heard in open court in Tues next week, 6 to 10 October. It has also been communicated to the Police that the subject matter of which the alleged Criminal Breach of Trust that Mr Lim is accused of, is currently heard in the courts and therefore he cannot give a statement at this moment. TOC understands that another offense that Mr Lim is investigated is about allegations of harrassment from a former staff of the law firm — which has nothing to do with CAD.
