Singapore International Arbitration Centre Doubles New Case Load in 2020

Just another nail in the coffin of HK’s belief that it is the centre of balanced law  & negotiationin the region.

Anybody with half a brain knew this a decade ago now the stats are beyond blindingly obvious

SIAC reported a record 1,080 new case filings in 2020; while the HKIAC saw the highest $8.8 billion in total amount in dispute.

The Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) more than doubled its new case load in 2020 from the previous year and surpassed rival Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) for the first time.

In 2020, SIAC received 1,080 new case filings, up from 479 in 2019 and a new record for the institution. Among the new cases, 1,063 were SIAC-administered, also a record high for the organization. In the decade since 2011, SIAC has seen its annual new case filings grow more than fivefold from 188 to 1,080, and administered new cases grow over sixfold from 160 to 1,063.
