Sidley Austin LLP has announced that Prabhat K. Mehta, a corporate and capital markets partner, has returned to Sidley?s Singapore office after six years in the firm?s New York office.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Mehta spent five years in East Asia leading transactions throughout the region, including India, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Hong Kong and Korea.

Mr. Mehta has extensive experience in a range of securities transactions, including initial public offerings and offerings of high-yield debt, convertible and exchangeable debt, hybrid securities and structured products. He has represented companies and their underwriters and financial advisors in transactions involving parties in Asia, the United States, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. In Asia, Mr. Mehta has led deal teams on capital markets, private equity, joint venture, fund formation and other transactions. Recently, he has worked with sovereign wealth funds and major financial institutions on several landmark recapitalization transactions.
Since the beginning of his career, Mr. Mehta has devoted a significant part of his practice to India-related matters, including securities offerings for major Indian business groups and emerging companies, as well as privatizations, acquisitions, joint ventures, outsourcing and private fund formation. He has worked on over 20 securities offerings for Indian companies.
Mr. Mehta received his J.D. from Yale Law School and his Bachelor of Science, Phi Beta Kappa, Sigma Xi, from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
