The Corporate Legal Department is looking for a Legal Knowledge Management Specialist to support the Legal Knowledge Management (KM) 2.0 initiative as a 18 – 24 month project hire.

During implementation of the second phase of Legal KM, the Specialist will drive the development of requirements, working with relevant DTSS and third party vendors, and rolling out and training end users for new features and functionality for the upgraded Legal Insider Intranet. The Specialist will also drive current front end maintenance and updates to the Legal Department’s Intranet, as well as other technical and strategic duties, such as facilitating knowledge management concepts and initiatives, and supporting the development of new knowledge sharing technologies, processes and solutions.Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the Legal Knowledge Manager, conduct meetings with Legal Department members to obtain and document Intranet site requirements, communicate requirements to technology teams, assist in testing new functionality and features, and assist in roll out of new features and functionality.
  • Point person for DTSS and third party vendors that support the SharePoint Intranet implementation. Communicate new requirements, bug issues, enhancement requests, test proposed resolutions, and document updates.
  • Partner with Department members with managing sites and properly organizing content. Conduct training on new features and functionality, administrative management of sites, and on general usage of the Intranet as needed. Create training checklists and orientation materials as required.
  • Maintain and update front-end support of the Department’s Intranet in SharePoint, including posting content, configuring sites, making required edits, developing site templates, managing lists, and overall ensuring pages function properly to meet Department objectives.
  • Create metrics reports on Intranet system usage.
  • Provision and orient new users into Intranet, send welcome message, and make permissions updates.
  • Propose recommendations for improving intranet capabilities.
  • Consult with end users regarding problems using the Intranet. Conduct basic troubleshooting and escalate to technical team as necessary.
  • Identify methods to improve and increase usage and advocate for organization wide knowledge sharing.
  • Think creatively/outside of the box to solve business problems.
  • Work collaboratively with all teams as necessary.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3 – 5 years experience working in a knowledge management capacity and/or in a law firm or legal department in an end user facing capacity
  • 1 year plus of experience training end users on using technology
  • 1 year plus of experience updating SharePoint 2010 or 2013 content and web parts
  • Strong computer and database skills required
  • Strong initiative required; ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Ability to work productively with company personnel at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication (both oral and written) skills required.
  • Strong organizational skills; must be able to multitask, balance, and prioritize work without sacrificing attention to details.
  • Must be able to come up to speed on new information, technology and tasks quickly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years plus working in a law department or law firm in a knowledge management capacity
  • Basic UX and UI skills, including basic experience with design and graphics
