Senior Editor – Brooklyn Law School

Brooklyn Law School seeks an experienced writer and editor to serve as Senior Editor in the Department of External Affairs. This is a full-time position with the Law School.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Communications, the Senior Editor will be primarily responsible for identifying, developing, and producing compelling stories about the Law School that advance the institution’s reputation and mission with key audiences.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Write, edit, and publish news and feature stories about the Law School’s faculty, alumni, students, and programs for digital platforms and print.

Produce content for Brooklyn Law Notes, the Law School’s print and online magazine for alumni, current and prospective students, faculty, and friends that highlights and promotes areas of the school’s leadership, innovation, and impact through in-depth feature stories, profiles, and expert commentary.

Provide writing support for the Brooklyn Law School website, social media platforms, opinion pieces, and other PR, marketing, and advertising materials.

Write and edit talking points, speeches, and other communications for Law School leadership.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must be an outstanding and versatile editor and writer with a strong track record of producing high-level, engaging content on tight deadlines. S/he must have superb interviewing skills and be adept at telling compelling stories for print and digital platforms that reflect and advance the mission and goals of the Law School. The candidate should enjoy working in a collaborative, intellectually stimulating environment and writing for print, web, and social media.

A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred. The candidate will have a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in publications, public relations, marketing, or journalism.

Experience in a legal setting or higher education is strongly preferred.
