Senior Editor – Analytical Operations Farringdon, London Fixed Term Contract until end of 2018

 

Reports to: Analytical Operations Manager LexisNexis, a division of the global publishing company RELX Group plc, (FTSE 50), is a leader in professional publishing and a pioneering solutions provider specializing in solutions for the legal, tax and accountancy sectors.

Main Purpose of the Role:

Accountable for delivering a budgeted portfolio of content for publication in all relevant media using the most operationally efficient processes

Key Result Areas:

  • Edits and styles material in relevant format prior to publication, ensuring all content within their portfolio is of the required quality.
  • Flags risks to the publishing schedule, whilst proposing solutions to mitigate that risk, to the Operational Manager.
  • Works collaboratively with onshore/offshore teams and/or project manages freelance editors, to develop, review and maintain the evolving editorial, stylistic and functional standards required by customers.
  • Identifies, develops and delivers effective training for onshore/offshore staff to ensure they have the required knowledge and skillset to work to the editorial standards set.
  • Responds effectively, and in a timely, professional manner, to queries from external and internal customers.
  • Acts as operational SME working closely with Legal and Tax Markets to offer the most efficient solutions to support the strategic goals of the business.
  • Drives efficiency and cost effectiveness of workflows, procedures and internal systems, making recommendations for improvement and change, implementing as appropriate.
  • Establishes key operational metrics to assist with operational delivery, efficiency and performance management
  • Manages, operationally, author relationships ensuring all cost calculations are communicated to the relevant internal stakeholders in a timely fashion.
  • Assists in project work as appropriate to support new business initiatives.
  • Acts as Editorial Operations representative at editorial board meetings to plan future updates and advise on best working practices.
  • Monitors online uploads and CD replication and liaises with appropriate technical departments when problems arise.
  • Assists in training, mentoring and supervision of less experienced staff where required.
  • May be required to deputise for Analytical Operations Manager.
  • In certain areas, will be responsible for liaising with, and monitoring progress of, external editors and/or freelance contributors.
  • Knowledge of XML publishing desirable.
