LEGAL INFORMATION MANAGER
The role will principally be based in our Edinburgh office, but the Firm supports a hybrid working approach through our Smarter Working policy.
We are flexible on the working days and hours and are open to either part-time or full-time candidates but the successful candidate would ideally be looking for a minimum of 20 hours per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Legal Information Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Firm’s library and information services under the direction of the library Partner.
The main duties for the role will be to:
- Provide an enquiry, legal research and document supply service to fee earners.
- Conduct specialist legal research and monitor future legal developments to help the firm grow profitably.
- Co-ordinate the provision of value-added knowledge services to clients via newsletters and briefing notes.
- Procure online and hard copy legal information resources to meet the firm’s needs.
- Negotiate contracts and take responsibility for the annual budget.
- Develop relationships with suppliers and monitor the firm’s use of resources to inform renewals.
- Manage and promote the legal information resources for the firm through current awareness and the SharePoint intranet.
- Classify and catalogue resources.
- Deliver inductions for new starters and provide ongoing training to fee earners.
- Drive awareness and engagement throughout the firm with the information services function.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have experience working in a similar legal information, knowledge or library role and ideally have relevant industry qualifications or related degree. The individual should have the ability to demonstrate their legal research skills.
You should have strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. You will have the ability to review and negotiate contracts. You should be flexible, self-motivated and have the ability to work on your own initiative with minimum supervision.
Experience in using library management systems, SharePoint, Westlaw, Practical Law and LexisLibrary would be advantageous, however, full training will be provided. You should have excellent IT skills.
