Samuel Alito will join the majority of justices who have written a book since joining the Supreme Court.
Alito will publish a book next year under Basic Books’ Basic Liberty imprint, a publicist for Basic Books said. CNN first reported Alito’s book deal Monday.
Details about the book’s title, publication date and subject aren’t yet available, the publicist said.
Alito, who was appointed by George W. Bush, will mark his 20th anniversary on the court in January 2026.
Alito has been a reliable conservative since taking the seat previously held by Sandra Day O’Connor. Most notably, he authored the 2022 opinion overturning a constitutional right to abortion.
It’s unclear if book writing will prove as lucrative for Alito as some of his colleagues, and whether he will be as willing to market it.
