Same Old Same Old: Lexis NZ Get UK Bod To Run Sheebang

Everything changes and nothing changes…why these companies feel the need to get someone from the old country to run their Aus & NZ franchises we’ll never work out.

Oh we forgot NZ is only populated by warrior Maoris, hobbits, rugby players and mountain men? .. so of course there wouldn’t be anybody qualified enough to run a publishing company .. actually we’d suggest all of the above could probably do a better job than most of the imports that turn up from the UK.. but then again what do we know.

We’re sure Mr Mahoney is a jolly nice chap with all the right credentials.. although he does come with the curse of Vezmar (see below) and a record for leading major sales transformation initiatives that have contributed significantly to the growth of the company… which sounds to us like particularly unsubtle code for saying prices for LN products are about to go up in NZ

Here’s the blurb

LexisNexis Appoints Managing Director in New Zealand

Hugo Mahoney brings sales and marketing expertise from LexisNexis UK

AUCKLAND, 4 November 2009 ? LexisNexis New Zealand, a leading provider of content-enabled workflow solutions, announced the appointment of Hugo Mahoney to the role of managing director, effective January 2010. As managing director of the New Zealand business, Mahoney will be part of the Pacific executive management team covering Australia and New Zealand.

Mahoney is currently the sales and marketing director for the LexisNexis business in the UK, where he is responsible for leading major sales transformation initiatives that have contributed significantly to the growth of the company. Under his leadership, the UK sales organisation has evolved from a traditional publishing and product-based function to a business that offers a diverse and compelling range of integrated IT, service and content solutions to the legal, tax, public sector and corporate markets.

?Hugo has proven his abilities to deliver results and work effectively with both customers and sales teams,? said Judy Vezmar, CEO of LexisNexis International. ?Although Hugo will be missed by the UK team, his appointment is part of LexisNexis? ongoing commitment to developing its business around the world, and ensuring that our customers receive best-in-class products and services.?

Before joining LexisNexis, Mahoney held a range of sales, marketing and general management positions in the pharmaceutical, consumer goods and telecommunications sectors, including several years with Coca-Cola Enterprises UK, and Cable & Wireless.
