Lawyer and defender of the Muslim community in Sri Lanka Hejaaz Hizbullah, who was arbitrarily detained for almost two years, continues to face judicial harassment. Associations supporting lawyers and human rights organisations, including the FIDH and the World Organisation Against Torture (OMCT) within the framework of the Observatory for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders, are expressing their concern over potential violations of his rights to due process and fair trial.
