Bowles Rice LLP, an established law firm with offices in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Virginia, has a part-time opportunity for a Research Librarian. You will be part of a dynamic administrative team and dedicated to conducting quick reference and on-demand research in support of attorneys, staff and referred clients. This position will work with other talented individuals who share a passion for doing great work in the best interest of our clients.
Duties include working independently, creatively and accurately to conduct efficient, cost-effective legal and non-legal research; providing research to practice groups, industry teams, the Business Development and Marketing Department and other strategic committees of the firm, in the form of useful/actionable research such as: alerts; lists of business contacts; reports on companies; competitive analysis, all in alignment with the firm’s strategic plan, and the practice group and industry team’ business plans; teaching attorneys, paralegals and other employees effective research techniques using print and electronic resources; assisting attorneys in framing and solving their information needs; and providing research and analysis of potential vendors, vendor products and electronic research sources to operations departments as requested.
Candidates must have strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in a virtual environment (e.g., web/videoconference); organizational skills; computer skills; ability to use sound judgment and discretion in dealing with highly confidential information; attention to detail, as well as the ability to convey information effectively; and work efficiently with a heavy workload in a fast-paced environment. Ability to multi-task and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate strong logical reasoning and problem-solving skills and the ability to learn new skills and retain information.
