A California man will stand trial on more than 40 charges, including fraud and forgery, a judge has ruled months after his missing mother’s remains were found on the ranch where they lived together.

The victim, 65-year-old Nadine Jett, was last seen in December 2023, her family previously told CBS 8The San Diego Tribune and FOX 5.

She had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, according to her daughter who spoke to the outlets.

In July of this year, investigators searching Jett’s Valley Center, Calif. ranch found skeletal remains that were later identified to be hers.

Her son Cedric Von Ferdinand, who was her caretaker, has since been slapped with dozens of fraud charges for allegedly assigning himself her power of attorney and forging signatures, among other offenses, according to a criminal complaint obtained by PEOPLE.

Von Ferdinand is not under arrest, and he has not been charged in connection with Jett’s murder.

Jett’s disappearance in 2023 raised alarm bells among her daughters — identical quadruplets — who have since alleged Von Ferdinand told them Jett had died in Mexico, CBS 8, The San Diego Tribune and FOX 5 reported.

“Charles was keeping us away from Nadine,” Tiffany Lucci previously told FOX 5. “He was just secluding us from her.”
