POSITION: Reference and Outreach Librarian

REPORTS TO: Associate Librarian for Public Services

STATUS: Full-time, Exempt, Hybrid Work Environment

SALARY RANGE: $75,000-$83,000

SUMMARY: Founded in 1901, Brooklyn Law School is a distinguished, independent law school located in Brooklyn Heights, New York. The Law School is searching for a Reference and Outreach Librarian to support the research and instructional needs of BLS faculty, students, and other library users. Duties & Responsibilities:
Provides general in-person and virtual reference services, including desk hours, research consultations; collection development; research guide development; and presentations
Perform extensive, in-depth, expert legal, non-legal and bibliographic research in-person and virtually
Liaise with in the Library’s faculty, student, and administrative department liaison program which includes consultations to determine needs; design research project to satisfy needs; and efficient project implementation
Formal and informal legal research and library instruction
Assist in the development of library instructional materials
Manage and coordinate library outreach and communication activities
Teach and the staff the reference desk on some evenings and weekends
Actively participate in professional development
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
M.L.S. (or equivalent) from an ALA accredited library school.
ABA accredited JD (or equivalent foreign degree) highly preferred, or 3-4 years legal research instruction experience
Strong information technology skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work within a team
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and execute tasks with strong attention to detail
Strong commitment to meeting deadlines
Ability to work both independently and as a team member in a fast-paced environment
