The University of Arizona, Rogers College of Law Library invites nominations and applications for a Reference and Instructional Services Librarian position. The Library is seeking an individual who enjoys and is comfortable working with a diverse constituency of students, faculty, colleagues, and other library users. This position is continuing status eligible, the equivalent of tenure eligible for librarians, and librarians are eligible for a sabbatical every seven years. Reporting to the Head of Public Services, the Reference and Instructional Services Librarian is responsible for providing significant research, reference, and instructional services in a dynamic and challenging environment.
Duties in this position will evolve over time as the law library continues to focus on how to best meet the changing demands of our users. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Teaching legal research throughout the curriculum. Currently, librarians at the Cracchiolo Law Library teach or co-teach Legal Research, Analysis, and Communication with a legal writing professor, intermediate Legal Research, Advanced Legal Research, and a new course in Law Office Technology. Some librarians are also involved in online course development and teach online courses to a diverse population of students including JD, Masters of Legal Studies (MLS), and students in an innovative BA in Law Program, which includes multiple foreign micro-campuses.
Provision of a wide range of reference and research assistance to a diverse group of library users.
There may be opportunities to participate in collection development, engage in scholarship, create exhibits, and develop other law library activities according to abilities, aptitudes, and desire.
Strong emphasis on teamwork, individual growth, and professional development.
Minimum qualifications:
JD and MLS or other information science degree from accredited institutions. Significant (at least 2 years) law library, legal information industry, or legal technology experience may be substituted for one of the degrees for exceptional candidates.
Demonstrated ability in the classroom or public speaking
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, enthusiastic, innovative, flexible, and comfortable working in a team environment.
Experience with legal research databases.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience performing the duties described above.
Demonstrated aptitude with technology
Experience designing a curriculum or syllabus
Demonstrated success in the classroom.
