The Kresge Law Library of the Notre Dame Law School is seeking a self-motivated and service-oriented individual to join its Research & Teaching Team as a Reference and Technology Librarian. The Kresge Library is an integral part of the Notre Dame Law School and offers many opportunities for developing professional skills and contributing to the educational mission of the Law School. Duties:
Research and Reference
Provide research service to the faculty and students of the law school, the University community, and the public.
Teach in the first-year legal research course and advanced legal research courses.
Participate in the faculty liaison program by meeting regularly with assigned faculty about their research interests, attending their workshop presentations, making recommendations on their behalf to the Collection Development Librarian, and training faculty research assistants.
Participate in the activities of professional organizations.
Technology
Take the lead in identifying and applying new technologies to reference services and teaching.
Develop and team teach a Law Practice Technology course that reflects trends in law firms and government.
Develop and implement plans for promoting and marketing electronic resources to students and faculty in coordination with the Electronic Resources Librarian.
Circulation
Oversee Circulation Desk operations and supervise circulation staff.
Collaborate with the Notre Dame University Libraries to provide seamless access to Notre Dame’s information resources.
Compensation :
The salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University offers a generous benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance; 20 vacation days, and approximately 14 paid holidays; retirement options; tuition benefits for dependents; and access to University events. The Law Library underwrites individual membership in the American Association of Law Libraries and provides liberal support for appropriate conferences and workshops. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2018.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
JD from an ABA-accredited institution (or equivalent degree) and an MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution (or equivalent degree).
Demonstrated awareness of current technology trends in the legal profession and law libraries.
Knowledge of legal materials and research methodology using electronic and print resources.
Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
Enthusiasm, creativity, and ability to propose new projects and workflows.
Desirable
One or more years of professional library reference experience.
Experience in classroom teaching and in the effective integration of new technologies in teaching and learning.
Interest in enhancing and expanding the range and quality of electronic sources offered to library users.
Ability to learn new technology independently and to adapt quickly to changing technologies.
