Join the experienced staff at the Temple University Beasley School of Law Library. We are dedicated to providing a high level of services to the law school, the university, the Philadelphia legal community, and the public. The Reference and Acquisitions Librarian reports directly to the Head of Public Services. The successful candidate will manage the library’s acquisitions and serve as a member of the reference team, supporting research and learning at Temple Law.

The Reference and Acquisitions Librarian participates in the Law Library’s faculty research service program, which supports the scholarly research needs of the law faculty. This position also participates in student outreach and supports a variety of student learning through both formal and informal instruction in legal research. This position also aids in collection development decisions, helps staff the library service desk, and participates in the evening desk rotation as scheduled.

In addition to reference duties, this position is responsible for the general acquisitions of the law library including ordering new print and electronic materials, managing renewals and standing orders, managing cancellations, electronic resources licensing, management of university licensing process, and general workflow management including access and maintenance of resources. Professional development is highly encouraged and may include service on Law School, University Libraries, and University committees, as well as professional library associations. This position also performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities:
J.D. from an ABA-approved law school.
M.L.S., M.L.I.S, or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution.
Demonstrated ability to work with faculty, students, staff, and a diverse research community.
Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development as a librarian.
A thorough understanding of United States legal resources and research methods.
Proficiency in or an aptitude for learning office, research, teaching, communication, and library technology systems and applications.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work nights and/or weekends, as scheduled.
A strong customer service orientation.
An ability to work both independently and as a team member.
An ability to make sound decisions and solve problems.

Preferred Skills & Abilities:
Experience in a law library, academic library, or relevant equivalent.
Knowledge of law library acquisitions.
Interest in law office technology or educational technology.
