Record Labels Must Face Suit Over Rights to a Seventies French Song

A federal judge rejected two Florida record labels’ effort to escape a lawsuit claiming they falsely asserted their rights over a 1970s French instrumental track.

Judge J. Paul Oetken of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York on Aug. 5 denied a motion to dismiss the copyright infringement lawsuit filed by three Miami-based companies, rejecting the labels’ argument that the court lacked personal jurisdiction over them.
