Wes Scantlin took a wild ride over the weekend that ended up with a traffic stop, SWAT, a hospital trip and a court date, according to multiple reports.
And it turns out, it was not the first run in with the law for the Puddle of Mudd frontman. The 52-year-old reportedly has a handful of run-ins in his past.
The most recent, of course, was this past week’s standoff with police following a traffic stop.
Scantlin was reportedly stopped in Burbank, California when police realized he also had an outstanding warrant for having a weapon at an airport. That is when they reportedly asked him to step out of his Hummer and he refused.
Billboard.com reported that police eventually called in a crisis negotiator, and after that person had no luck, Scantlin was reportedly pepper sprayed.
Still, according to Billboard.com, that was not enough to get him out of his Hummer, and that is when SWAT was reportedly brought in. Billboard.com said the SWAT team broke Scantlin’s window and shot him with pepper balls that brought him to give himself up.
The website said Scantlin was taken to a local hospital to flush out his eyes and was arrested for resisting arrest and his outstanding warrant. Billboard.com said Scantlin has a court date slated for Aug. 20.
The site said the singer has had “numbers of runs-ins with the law over the years.” Among the incidents, Scantlin was reportedly arrested in 2017 while trying to take a BB gun on an airplane. He reportedly was arrested in 2012 after an altercation with a flight attendant and was charged with public intoxication. Billboard.com said that in 2015 he was arrested twice in one month’s time for DUI, and in 2016 he reportedly was charged with felony vandalism.
