Publishing Production Assistant (Temporary) Practising Law Institute. NY

Join PLI and represent the legal community’s premier provider of continuing education and research services as a temporary Publishing Production Assistant in our New York office. Reporting to the Manager, Publishing Production, the ideal candidate will support production efforts in a collaborative and deadline driven environment. This is a part-time temporary assignment with an anticipated work schedule of 28 hours per week, April through June.

Your responsibilities as Publishing Production Associate (Temporary)

  • Updating transmittals
  • Typesetting book descriptions
  • Creating filing instructions
  • Receipt and distribution of files delivered by production vendor
  • Receipt of content revisions for upload to production vendor
  • Verifying that proof edits have made it into subsequently generated proof
  • Compiling proof for editor sign-off
  • Special projects as needed


Qualified candidates will have:

  • 1-3 years’ experience in a book publishing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
  • Strong writing skills are a must.
  • Good organizational, communication and computer skills are required.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a deadline driven environment.
