Prominent Sydney lawyer, Ugur Nedim, charged with domestic violence offences

A prominent Sydney law firm principal and convicted drink-driver, Ugur Nedim, is facing serious legal challenges after being charged with domestic violence offences. The founder of Sydney Criminal Lawyers recently appeared in Byron Bay Local Court where he pleaded not guilty to two counts of stalking or intimidating with the intent to cause fear of physical or mental harm. This marked his first court appearance related to the new charges

During the hearing, police requested an apprehended domestic violence order intended to protect the alleged victim. The court proceedings raised considerable interest, given Nedim’s status as a well-known figure in the legal community. His firm, renowned for representing high-profile clients, claims to be “Australia’s most awarded criminal defence lawyers” on its website.

Nedim, 51, holds a master’s degree in law from Sydney University. He has been active in the legal field since 1992, originally starting as a law clerk before transitioning to criminal defense practice in 1998. In 2001, he established Nedim Lawyers, now known as Sydney Criminal Lawyers, positioning himself as an accredited criminal law specialist recognized by the NSW Law Society. The firm is noted for its clientele, which includes Olympians, CEOs, and politicians.
