Press Release: The Bar of Ireland signs up to Vizlegal

The Bar of Ireland – with its 2,200+ members and staff – has signed up to Vizlegal.

This is an exciting new relationship for us – and we are keen to start delivering the benefits our platform provides to barristers in Ireland. Up to now our platform has mainly been used by solicitors, and it’s great to now see both barristers and solicitors taking advantage of the speed and mobile accessibility features of Vizlegal.

The Bar of Ireland Director of Library and Information Services Nuala Byrne said: “It is so exciting to be working with an agile, vibrant company that listens and acts. Vizlegal makes it easy to quickly find, track and save judgments, cases and other legal information. Using cutting edge technology, their new approach to database design and searching makes it mobile, intuitive, visual, customisable and builds with use. Vizlegal makes legal information accessible. Feedback from our members has been very positive.”

The Bar of Ireland Chief Executive Ciara Murphy said “The Bar of Ireland facilitates the sharing of knowledge amongst barristers who are members of the Law Library. Membership offers numerous advantages to practising barristers including access to a vast legal library, legal databases and research support, each of which facilitates barristers in performing their role to the highest standards. The launch of the Vizlegal platform for members of the Law Library is a fantastic addition to our suite of library and information services.”

Vizlegal’s platform contains a million decisions or filings from the Court of Justice of the European Union, the European Court of Human Rights, Irish High Court and Circuit Court records, Irish judgments, Irish Trademarks, Irish Information Commissioner decisions, Irish Tax Appeals Commission decisions, and UK Supreme Court, First-tier and Upper Tribunal Tax and Chancery decisions, and tens of thousands of England & Wales Court of Appeal and High Court judgments. Vizlegal is always adding more data to increase value for more practitioners in different practice areas and jurisdictions.
