The Reference & Faculty Services Librarian reports directly to the Head of Public Services and serves as a member of the reference team supporting research and learning at Temple Law School. Join an experienced staff dedicated to a high level of service to Temple Law School, Temple University, the Philadelphia legal community, and the public.

The Reference & Faculty Services Librarian is the point person for the Law Library’s faculty research service, which supports the scholarly research needs of the law faculty. This position also participates in managing and training the students who work as Research Assistants for the Law Library.

The Reference & Faculty Services Librarian participates in and supports a variety of student learning through both formal and information instruction in legal research, as well as outreach. This position helps staff the library service desk, participates in evening and weekend desk rotation as scheduled, and aids in collection development. Professional development may include service on Law School, University Libraries, and University committees, as well as professional library associations. This position also performs other duties as assigned.

The Law Library supports the teaching and research activities of more than 700 J.D. and LL.M. students drawn from around the world and 60 full-time faculty members, many with national and international scholarly reputations. Required Education & Experience:

M.L.S. or equivalent degree from an ALA-accredited institution. In lieu of the M.L.S., candidates holding a J.D. from an ABA-approved law school and who have library work experience will be considered. Demonstrated experience in a law library or an academic library. Candidates having relevant equivalent experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

* Demonstrated ability to work flexibly with faculty, students, staff, and a diverse research community.

* A thorough grounding the United States legal resources and research methods.

* Proficiency in or an aptitude for learning office, research, teaching, communication, and library technology systems and applications.

* Excellent oral and written communication skills.

* Ability to work nights and/or weekends, as necessary.

* A strong customer service orientation.

* An ability to work both independently and as a team member.

Preferred:

* A J.D. from an ABA-approved law school.

* Foreign language proficiency.
