Job Description
The Library Technician I provides specialized technical services in the William J. Jameson Law Library. This position is responsible for serials maintenance by providing timely filing updates to print library materials; resource sharing by being responsible for the interlibrary borrowing and lending; and providing technical services by assisting the technical services librarian in stacks maintenance, database maintenance, processing new library materials. This position is also responsible for providing circulation services by assisting library patrons locate library materials, circulating library materials, answering informational questions. This position may provide basic legal reference assistance. This position recruits, trains, and manages student library staff.
This position requires incumbent to develop working knowledge of supplementation methods and updating patterns and processes for legal materials; develop working knowledge of the library resource sharing software; develop working knowledge of the library’s integrated library system; develop working knowledge of library circulation policies and procedures; develop working knowledge to troubleshoot and solve circulation problems; develop working knowledge to assist in the maintenance of library patron databases; develop working knowledge to run timely circulation reports; develop working knowledge to maintain library holding records in the library catalog; develop working knowledge to participate in database maintenance projects; develop working knowledge of to assist in stacks maintenance and shifting projects; develop working knowledge of legal research tools and the ability to assist patrons with basic legal research; and develop working knowledge of student hiring procedures.

- Flexibility and the ability to cope with a changing work environment and evolving technologies.
Minimum Required Experience
- High School diploma and at least one (1) year related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree

Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, 12 months/year
Salary: $12.157/hr – Current employee’s rate of pay for this position will be determined by the staff compensation plan, and may be different from the posted salary. For questions and details regarding the staff compensation plan, email the Compensation Department.

Probationary Period: Six months minimum
