Technical Services Librarian (Law Librarian III)
Job Description
The Technical Services Librarian reports to the Director of the Law Library and manages and participates in the classification and processing of Law Library materials, including Law Library acquisitions, cataloging, and government documents management. The Technical Services Librarian plans, develops, and coordinates the technical services functions of the Law Library, including creating new workflows and setting new written policies in these areas. The Technical Services Librarian assists in budget planning and monitoring in the Law Library’s technical services areas. The Technical Services Librarian follows new developments in library technical services and will play a leading role in the preparations for and implementation of a next-generation library management solution (LMS).
The technical services librarian also contributes to the reference, instruction, and research support team in the Law Library. This includes staffing the library service desk, participating in evening and weekend desk rotation as scheduled, supporting faculty research, and providing formal and informal instruction in legal research as assigned.

Job Requirements
Required Education and Experience:
M.L.S. in library and information science or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution. Demonstrated experience working in technical services. Academic law library experience, or relevant equivalent experience. Demonstrated experience creating new workflows and setting new written policies. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities:
*Understanding of budget planning and monitoring in the technical services area.
*Proficiency in office, research, teaching, communication , and technology systems (e.g. , Innovative Millennium, Lexis, Westlaw, Bloomberg Law, LibGuides).
*Demonstrated analytical/problem solving skills pertinent to the organization of legal information.
*Strong time management and organizational skills.
*Demonstrated oral and written communication skills along with the ability to work flexibly with faculty, students, staff, and a diverse research community.
*A thorough grounding in U.S. legal research resources and research methods.
*Ability to work nights and/or weekends, as necessary.
