We have a great opportunity for an experienced professional support lawyer to join our team to provide a quality service supporting fee earners, principally in the areas of commercial, rural and residential property, to include commercial leasing, rural transactions and general conveyancing advice and information.
The successful candidate is likely to have at least 7 years’ post qualifying experience in the area of property work as well as some experience of working in a PSL role. In addition to technical competencies, the candidate will have the ability to communicate in a confident, clear and relaxed way and will be comfortable leading projects.
The key elements of the role will include:
• Keep up to date with, analyse and cascade all relevant legal property developments to fee earners working in property roles.
• Collate and review all property styles (including liaison with IT to ensure that they are all centrally formatted and accessible) and seek and implement fee earner feedback.
• Assist fee earners with complicated client related work which might include diligence, title examination, research, drafting etc.
• Develop and run training programmes for Property fee earners on all aspects of commercial, rural and residential property.
• Along with Director of Risk and Heads of Property departments, analyse claim and complaints trends and assist with resolution, where appropriate and develop risk management manual and culture.
• Provide specific ‘one on one’ training – e.g. taking junior members of staff fully through a title examination and reporting / lease revisal / lease report.
• Support residential fee earners by assisting in developing uniformity of practice and quality across offices.
• Edit and be responsible for client literature and write articles for submission to external publications.
• Assist in preparation of external talks and presentations.
• Deal reporting – keep relevant departments up to date with what clients, potential clients and competitors are doing in the marketplace.
• Marketing liaison – work with fee earners to keep a log of deals for producing to marketing department when required for submissions / press statements etc; involvement in production of tender documentation.
• Specific legal research as required or as requested by fee earners which would then be chargeable to the client.
Be actively involved in business development for clients, including assisting with tenders, training and advice on complex legal matters for key clients.
This is a permanent full time role with core hours of 9am – 5pm, although flexi time is available. Travel between our offices in Glasgow and Dundee will also be required on a frequent basis.
