Your New Role

 

Paralegal, Music Clearance

 

Your Role Accountabilities

  • Responsible for clearing all music for in-game and marketing uses. Negotiates and drafts music licenses and composer agreements.
  • Negotiates and drafts voice-over agreements, performance capture agreements and motion capture agreements for interactive entertainment.
  • Analyzes game scripts and advises production on a variety of legal matters in connection with script clearances. Negotiates and drafts appropriate releases to acquire rights.
  • Negotiates and drafts various other standard contracts including services agreements, vendor agreements, preview release agreements, non-disclosure agreements and submission release agreements.
  • Provides various other legal services, including review of contractual obligations and rights research (including updating internal licensing management system).
  • Works with WBIE production and marketing to create proper legal notices on all packaging, collateral materials and in-game.
  • Prepares documentation and coordinates copyright and trademark filings with Warner Bros. corporate legal team.
  • Handles all other legal tasks as requested by attorneys and other senior executives.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience handling music clearances, including negotiating and drafting music licenses and composer agreements s highly preferred.
  • Experience negotiating with record labels, music publishing companies and law firms is highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of contract law; familiarity with copyright, trademark and other intellectual property law is highly preferred.
  • Should possess strong PC Skills, including proficiency with MS Outlook, Word and Excel is highly preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree required.
  • Knowledge of music industry required.
  • Experience handling video game clearances is preferred.
  • Knowledge of guild agreements, including SAG/AFTRA Interactive Media Agreement is helpful.
  • Working knowledge of interactive software market/entertainment industry preferred.
  • Working knowledge of union and guild issues preferred.
  • Must have excellent negotiating skills and must be detail oriented.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
  • Must be a team player and willing to pitch in whenever needed.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize work to meet specific deadlines required.
  • Must be self-motivated & results oriented.
  • Positive, pleasant and outgoing personality. An individual who wants to be a key part of our team. Must be able to handle confidential and sensitive information. Must be trustworthy.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. $53,057.00 – $98,534.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros.
