Department Summary

The law library supplies comprehensive legal information collections in partnership with the UO Libraries.

Position Summary
This position reports to the Law Reference Librarian in charge of Access Services, with additional oversight and support provided the senior Law Reference Librarian. Main responsibilities include: coordination and direction of all Access Services and facilities management of the John E. Jaqua Law Library, including supervision and training of 2.0 FTE classified staff; Hires, trains, and supervises 12-20 part-time access services student assistants; Serves as a liaison and collaborates/consults with staff in other Library and Law School units to improve joint programs; Participates in Library and University committees as appointed and approved by the Law Library Director; Recommends and implements decisions regarding hours of operations and staff work assignments; Works with team members on complex problem-solving; Communicates service recommendations and needs to supervisor (the Law Reference Librarian in charge of Access Services), the senior Law Reference Librarian, and the Law Library Director; Recommends goals for the work unit. Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree and/or substantial relevant library experience.
• One year experience in circulation or access services in automated library environment.
• One year experience in supervision of support staff; excellent communication and supervisory skills.

• High proficiency with technology.
• Demonstrated flexibility, ability to plan and initiate projects, set priorities, solve problems, motivate staff and maintain stability and consistency in stressful situations.
• Must be physically able to perform all duties related to access services.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with technical functions of Ex Libris Alma and Primo.
• Extensive computing experience including creation and maintenance of web pages, scanning and digitizing, record uploading, use of networked resources, data entry and retrieval.
• High impact public contact experience providing or requesting information from the public.
• The successful candidate will support and enhance a diverse learning and working environment.
