Position: International Trademark Association Senior Legal Editor

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

In support of INTA’s Strategic Plan, executes strategic, administrative and editorial responsibilities for assigned online legal resources, including development of new resources and annual updating of existing resources. Legal Resources include multijurisdictional searchable guides (databases), online treatises, factsheets, checklists, industry papers and others. Works with marketing and communications departments to promote awareness of legal resources to current and prospective INTA members.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:                 

Fills planning, administrative and editorial roles that contribute to the productivity of the Legal Resources department and meet the strategic priorities of the Association.

In conjunction with the Director of Legal Resources and the Publications Committee, identifies and develops concepts for publications to meet the informational needs of members.

With The Director of Legal Resources, develops and executes editorial calendars of existing and planned new resources, including development timelines for new resources and editorial maintenance calendars for existing resources.

Participates in all stages of new project development, from conceptualization to launch, including substantial hands-on editing, working with allied staff and member volunteers.

Maintains existing resources through annual update cycles, including substantial hands-on editing, working with allied staff and member volunteers.

Participates in planning, development and execution of short and long term marketing strategies and campaigns for all products in conjunction with the marketing and communications departments.

Performs resource demonstrations and develops marketing presentations as necessary.

Performs such other duties as may be designated by the Director, Legal Resources.

Adheres to all deadlines and ensures timely production of all projects.

Generation of high quality products that serve to enhance the credibility and authority of the organization.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree plus related professional training, JD or comparable degree.

Background in intellectual property law a plus.

At least five years of experience in legal publishing/editing.

Ability to think creatively, strategically and tactically, incorporating technical knowledge and foresight.

Proven capability to successfully advance multiple projects simultaneously.

Travel twice annually to attend Association conferences and participate in project and committee meetings.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
