The Litigation Department of JPMorgan Chase is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its Legal Discovery Management group.
As a Discovery Specialist I in the Legal Discovery Management department’s Retention Team, you will assist attorneys as well as the LDM team with different stages of discovery, primarily focused on the identification, preservation, and collection of relevant materials for litigation and investigations. You will create and manage Legal Hold notices, communicating preservation and collection requests to IT groups and tracking request-based information in Excel and other tools. You will be responsible for implementing process documents and checklists, conducting internal research on discoverable data sources, and following up with employees regarding their Legal Hold notices. You will ensure proper routing and handling of issues and requests for information, including coordinating directly with in-house counsel and outside law firms. You will be required produce periodic and ad-hoc reports to assist attorneys on various matters; strong communication skills with attorneys and other legal personnel are mandatory.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Submit, track, and facilitate discovery requests for litigation, regulatory inquiries, and investigations for in-house and outside counsel
- Implement process documents and checklists, continually searching for improvement opportunities and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the bank’s Legal Discovery Request and Legal Hold Notification processes
- Liaise between employees, in-house counsel, external counsel, LDM, and technology teams, explaining the discovery process and managing expectations for deliverables
- Analysis of data, understanding of e-discovery processes, organization of records and reporting, understanding the basics of a corporation’s responsibilities for discovery and regulatory matters
- Track and report metrics to LDM team members and management regularly
Qualifications
- Legal and/or eDiscovery experience preferred
- 1-3 years of experience at a law firm, in-house legal department, or eDiscovery service provider preferred
- Able to work autonomously, supporting a global coverage model with counterparts in multiple regions
- Strong written/oral communication skills
- Proficient in Excel/Microsoft Office
- Detail oriented
- Proficiency with reporting and metrics
- Team player
- Problem solving skills
