The Gould Law Library at Touro Law Center (New York) is accepting applications for the position of Foreign & International Law Librarian.
The successful candidate will provide reference and research services to law students, faculty, staff, Alumni Association members, and Friends of the Library.
Touro Law Center is located in Central Islip, on the south shore of Long Island, an hour from New York City.? Fifty full-time law faculty members provide a practice-oriented educational curriculum to approximately 800 students in both full-time day and part-time evening programs.? The library contains over 450,000 volumes and equivalents, and provides access to myriad online subscription databases.? Under the direction of the Head of Public Services, the librarian in this position will be responsible for providing reference service and research support, including: teaching a one-credit course called ?Foreign & International Legal Research?; selecting all foreign, international, and comparative legal materials for the collection; working closely with faculty members who publish and teach foreign and international legal topics, including those who participate in Touro?s summer study abroad programs; preparing bibliographic guides using LibGuides, with an emphasis on foreign, international, and comparative topics; sharing Reference Office hours, including weekends and evenings; participating with the reference team in research training for law students; participating in professional organizations; and contributing to law library scholarship. The librarian also will handle additional projects as assigned, such as serving as the liaison to the Legal Clinic and Public Advocacy Center, and handling federal government documents.

Qualifications:
Required:? J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school; M.L.I.S.or equivalent degree from an
ALA-accredited institution; and excellent writing skills. Applicants currently enrolled in a library science program, and showing progress toward the degree, will receive consideration for this position.
Preferred:? Knowledge of the Innovative Interfaces integrated library system. Although exposure to foreign and international materials is preferred, candidates willing to develop expertise in this area will be given consideration. Knowledge of a foreign language is helpful, but is not required for consideration as an applicant.
