- Agents dressed as Father Christmas and his elves arrested the criminals
- Festively dressed agents stormed the drug gang’s building in Lima on Saturday
- They dressed in the Santa costumes so not to attract much attention, police said
A gang of drug dealers in Peru got a nasty surprise when Father Christmas and his elves broke down their door to cuff them and shut down the criminal operation.
Police dressed as Santa and his little helpers hammered down the door to cuff the gang who won’t be making it on to the nice list this year.
The agents were disguised in festive costumes with one officer dressed as the ruddy, white-bearded figure from the North Pole along with several of his little helpers.
Police official David Villanueva told Peruvian TV: ‘It being Christmas, a Santa in the street does not attract much attention, and we used this to our advantage for this operation.’
The group ambled innocently down a street until suddenly they stopped at a house.
In a scene more akin to a comedy skit than a police raid, one of Santa’s helpers brought out an enormous hammer, broke down the front door and the group forced their way inside.
Instead of greeting the occupants with a jolly cheer, agents screamed at them to freeze and lay down on the floor.
The suspects, three men and a woman, initially thought it was a joke, said Villanueva
