(KWWL) The Associated Press reports, a lawyer for PBS is no longer with the network after being caught describing President Donald Trump as “close to Hitler” in an undercover video.
Michael Beller worked in PBS’ general counsel office.
He was recorded making extremist anti-Trump and anti-Republican political statements in what appeared to be a conversation in a bar.
It was released Tuesday by Project Veritas, a conservative group that commonly investigates stories outside the mainstream media.
In the video he can be heard saying “I can see about 5 minutes of FOX (FOX News), just to see what they’re saying. Right?”
He went on to say the network was “ridiculous” and “unbelievable.”
At one point the woman in the video asked him if his colleagues at PBS share his views, he responded “Yeah.”
In the Project Veritas video, he also said “I can’t stand it. I mean, every once in a while, I’ll look at FOX News and it makes me want to throw up after five minutes.”
Beller can be seen and heard in the video, saying it was “great” that coronavirus cases were spiking in red states because they might infect Trump voters.
The now former PBS attorney also suggested Republican voters should have their children put in re-education camps, “Even if Biden wins, we go for all the Republican voters and Homeland Security will take their children away…What do you think about that?…and we’ll put them in re-education camps,” he said.
According to PBS on Twitter, “This employee no longer works for PBS.”
The lawyer did not speak on behalf of PBS or make any editorial decisions, according to PBS spokesman Jeremy Gaines.
“There is no place for hateful rhetoric at PBS, and this individual’s views in no way reflect our values or opinions,” he said.
