Outdoor clothing and gear company Patagonia Inc. filed a trademark infringement lawsuit Monday over Patagonia-branded cutlery and cutting boards in a Los Angeles federal court.
Patagonia alleged that Micom Group LLC sells various products that also include mineral oil under a “Patagonia Products” trademark—one Micom applied to register for cutting boards and cutlery last year—in its complaint filed in the US District Court for the Central District of California.
- The “nearly identical” trademark with “Patagonia” as the dominant element will confuse consumers into believing Micom’s products are associated with the outdoor giant, the complaint said.
