The President of the Quetta Bar Association, Qari Rehmatullah Advocate has said the license of a female lawyer was revoked in relation to a recent incident involving locking a judge’s chamber. He emphasized that the boycott of court proceedings will continue until the license of Advocate Farzana is restored.
He made these remarks during a press conference at the Kacheri Bar Room in Quetta.
He explained that on September 19, there was a heated exchange between a female lawyer and a magistrate at the Saryab Court. Following the resolution of the issue between the lawyers and magistrate, the High Court revoked Advocate Farzana’s license, which he claims is against the Bar Council’s regulations. He stressed that the revocation of a lawyer’s license is a matter of dignity for the legal community.
He asserted that the Chief Justice does not have the authority to revoke a lawyer’s license. If more licenses are revoked, they will not allow the courts to function. While a judge can suspend a lawyer’s license, they cannot revoke it without due process. Until Advocate Farzana’s license is restored, they will continue their boycott of court proceedings.
He accused the authorities of attempting to demean lawyers by revoking the female lawyer’s license and stated that they will maintain a complete boycott of the courts until her license is restored. He warned that if their demands are not met within two days, they will shut down courts across the province starting Monday.
