Pacific Legal Network Australia Publish “comparative analysis of the rules for the registration of personal property security interests from various Pacific jurisdictions.”

This might be a little esoteric for some and equally useful for others

We provide in this issue the first comparative analysis of the rules for the registration of personal property security interests from various Pacific jurisdictions. Its relevance is obvious given Fiji is also now expected to come online in the relatively short term. All financiers in Fiji and elsewhere should be getting their collective heads around these concepts.

On a related note, in 2017 we were the first to publish a regional directors duties guide. If you have not yet accessed the guide, then click the link below. I am delighted to announce that we have now added that small Pacific island nation of Australia to the jurisdictions covered by the guide. The quantum of positive feedback and interest that we have received regarding this publication is testament to the need for more personal and relevant content to be made available to business persons and executives. So we hear you loud and clear!

Our compulsory/compulsive reading bar review treks into Asia for the first time… something about what goes on tour stays on tour springs to mind, however this seems to be an exception to that rule. In a similar vein we report on the success of the IAG GLOBAL assembly in Bangkok from February and provide a summary report of the key issues arising from the Australian Governments White Paper on all things Pacific.

We are also delighted to introduce to you our close friend Anna Moegerlein from The Difference Incubator (‘TDi’). The PLN – TDi paths crossed during 2016/7 with the impact investment by Benefit Capital into the Tanna Coffee project in Vanuatu – more on the successes of that investment will follow in our next issue.

And finally we take this chance to celebrate and congratulate our own Liz Moran for being shortlisted in the national 2018 Lawyers Weekly 30 under 30 awards in the Banking and Finance Category. Go Lizzy!
