A federal judge Monday sentenced a retired lawyer to two years in prison for tax evasion.
Bruce L. Lamon, who retired in Oregon after working for nearly three decades as a tax litigator for a firm in Hawaii, failed to pay $744,000 in federal income tax for calendar years 2008 through 2013, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Seth Uram.
Uram had sought a five-year sentence. Lamon’s defense lawyer Ruben Iñiguez asked for five years of probation with one year of home detention and 100 hours of community service.
