We came across the following thread this morning about what salary editors at a legal publishers should expect… quite depressing really
Here’s the initial post…
Salary for legal publishing?
Does anyone here work in legal publishing? I have an interview next week at a legal publishing website for an associate editor position. I have absolutely no idea what kind of salary is reasonable. I definitely don’t want to price myself out, but I also don’t want to get taken. Anyone have suggestions for salary requirement?
And the responses….. maybe time to look for a different job ?
?
It doesn’t pay well. Maybe 30 to start.

Don’t take less than $2.35 per hour. Make sure they let you keep ALL your tips. I hope this helped

$30K sounds right. When I was a paralegal, NYC legal publishing paras were usually plain-looking girls who grew up in the South and came from good schools like U. Va. (Pretty girls — and boys, I guess — went to the major law firms.) Wages were entry-level non-certified paralegal (no prior training).

Can one survive on a salary of 30K in NYC?
