COVINGTON, La. — A 75-year-old woman is in jail after authorities said she brought a shotgun to her lawyer’s office and threatened to kill him.
The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office said Patricia Currie went to her attorney’s office on Highway 21 Thursday with a shotgun, upset with how her bankruptcy case was handled.
The man told deputies he was alone in the office when he heard the front door open. Deputies said he found Currie, his client, seated in the lobby with plastic bags on her feet and a towel draped across her lap.
When the lawyer asked what she needed, investigators said Currie pulled the shotgun from under the towel and said she was there to kill him.
Authorities said the man was able to remove the shotgun from Currie’s hands before calling 911.
Deputies said when they arrived, Currie was uncooperative, and could not be booked properly until she gave her name over the weekend.
Currie was later booked on various charges including aggravated assault with a firearm and resisting an officer.
