Jiang Ping, a prominent Chinese legal scholar and educator who played a pioneering role in building the country’s contemporary legislative system, passed away in Beijing Tuesday, Caixin learned from Jiang’s family. He was 92.
A lifelong advocate for the rule of law and a former president of a prestigious Chinese law university, Jiang had witnessed nearly seven decades of arduous progress on China’s path toward legal governance, revered by the legal community as one of the “three elders of the rule of law in China,” the two others being Guo Daohui, 95, and Li Buyun, 90.
