OAB-RJ Gaming Commission discusses gaming regulation in Brazil

The OAB-RJ Gaming Law Commission opens today (13), the “First cycle of debates on the regulation of sports, lottery and entertainment games in Brazil”. The event starts at 2 pm at the entity’s headquarters, with renowned lawyers in the sector, such as Brasil Fernandes, Udo Seckelmann and Marcelo M. Corrêa, directors and members of gaming commissions from other states and the president of the Loteria do Maranhão, Jonathas Mendes Silva, as well as political authorities.

Wednesday (13), takes place the first meeting of the ‘Cycle of Debates on the Regulation of Sports Games, Lotteries and Entertainment’ of the OAB-RJ. The event begins at 2 pm with the opening of Álvaro Quintão (secretary general of the OAB-RJ), Paulo Horn (president of the Special Committee on Sports, Lottery and Entertainment Law of the OAB of Rio de Janeiro), Daniel Homem de Carvalho (president of the National OAB Gaming Commission), and Vania Siciliano Aieta (lawyer specialized in Electoral Law and president of the OAB Constitutional Law Commission).

The event, closed to the public, intends to analyze the current moment of the discussions on the regulation of sports betting and the progress of the bill 442/91, approved in the Chamber of Deputies and awaiting the decision of the President of the Senate regarding the processing rite that will take place in the House.

After the opening, Paulo Horn and lawyer Roberto Brasil Fernandes will share the meeting table to discuss the prejudice implicit in the denomination of “games of chance”.

Then, the president of Loteria do Maranhão, Jonathas Mendes Silva and lawyer Udo Seckelmann will discuss the current legal scenario in Brazil in the area of sports betting, with the mediation of Vitor Hugo de Almeida, from CEDJDLE.
