Nigerian-born legal scholar Ibironke Odumosu-Ayanu has been appointed Dean of the University of Saskatchewan College of Law in Canada for a five-year term beginning October 1, 2026.
Announced by interim provost Patti McDougall, Odumosu-Ayanu succeeds Martin Phillipson following a transition period under interim dean Professor Doug Surtees. A faculty member since 2008, she currently serves as professor and associate dean for research and graduate studies. She holds an LLB from the University of Lagos, an LLM from the University of Calgary, and a PhD from the University of British Columbia.
Internationally recognized for her research in business and human rights, she has established collaborative global research networks, maintained a strong record in teaching and graduate mentorship, and received awards including the 2012 Provost’s College Award for Outstanding Teaching and the 2026 USask InterD Advisor Award. She also serves on various academic, professional, and community boards, including the Saskatchewan Intercultural Association.
