Former Chairman of Nigeria’s National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Prof. Chidi Anselm Odinkalu, has revealed that lawyers defending the detained human rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi in a defamation case in Ekiti State are being threatened with violence.
Odinkalu, a professor of law, who disclosed this on his official X account, said that threats have been issued against a Senior Advocate of Nigeria to burn his law firm should he support Farotimi.
He wrote: “The lawyers for @DeleFarotimi in the case in Ekiti are reportedly being threatened with violence.
“Threats have bn issued against a #SAN to burn his law shd he utter a position supportive of @DeleFarotimi.
“That’s how to show no one is involved in corrupting the judiciary!”
