An attorney from New York was convicted Friday for his role in a trip-and-fall scheme that attempted to defraud victims for $31 million between 2013 and 2018.
Lawyer George Constantine was found guilty alongside orthopedic surgeon Andrew Dowd following a three-week trial over a purported fraud involving “patients” who were recruited to stage trip-and-fall accidents and undergo medically unnecessary surgeries to increase the value of personal injury lawsuits filed by Constantine.
Constantine and Dowd allegedly sought about $31 million from the owners of the accident sites and insurance companies of the owners of the accident sites.
