Stephenson Harwood is preparing to launch an office in Myanmar next year, after ending its alliance with local firm U Tin Yu & Associates.
Managing partner Sharon White said the alliance came to an end in June after three years “by mutual agreement”. She added: “We wanted different things. We are continuing to work with them. It was not a question of falling out, or a rupture. There are some great lawyers in Myanmar and the legal sector is continually developing there, but it doesn’t have the broad and deep experience of lawyers elsewhere because they have been cut off.”
