If there were law firm awards for firms that had played the most games with their staff and the media with regard to redundancies, the Australians would win hands down….
As much as the UK & US firms would have preferred to have kept their redundancy programmes quiet they still appear polite and adult enough to present the semblance of a plan.
As 2009 has rolled on we’ve seen little acceptance of reality, at least publicly,? by Australian law firms. With the oft repeated mantra that everything is ok and nobody was losing their jobs.
The emergence mid year, of blog, Firm Spy, has though brought some sense of reality and this week we have two more great Australian law firm redundancy stories.

And this particular favourite, which i’m sure has been used by many firms around the world. But unfortunately, in this case, it’s Australian firm Deacons who have been caught out
