Montenegro Bar Association bans lawyers from acting under proxy powers from Serbia

The Bar Association of Montenegro has adopted a decision to prohibit lawyers from Montenegro from acting on Montenegrin territory under a proxy power of attorney from Serbia until the strike in Serbia ends.

Yesterday, the students in the blockade called on the citizens of Serbia to completely suspend all activities on Friday, January 24, or rather, to go on a general strike or “general civil disobedience.”

“We are not going to work, we are not going to classes, we are not doing our daily duties. We are taking freedom into our own hands. Your participation makes a difference,” the students in the blockade wrote on Instagram.

They stated that employees can participate by not going to work on Friday.

“Talk to your colleagues and organize a work stoppage at work. What if you’re afraid of your employer? Take a day off, open a sick leave, donate blood,” the post reads.

The students told employers to give their employees the day off, cancel all scheduled meetings, and inform clients of the reasons why they are not working that day.
