Missing model and Katy Perry songwriter found safe after monthslong disappearance: Police

Law & Crime report

A missing model and songwriter who once collaborated with Katy Perry has been found safe mere miles from her home.

Camela Leierth-Segura, 48, has not been seen in months. As Law&Crime previously reported, friends said that they reported Leierth-Segura as missing on Aug. 8, but her car — a 2010 silver Ford Fusion — was reportedly last seen in Beverly Hills in the middle of the night on June 30.

Now, according to police, she has been found.

“On October 5, 2023, an anonymous source reported seeing Camela Segura in the City of Santa Monica,” a spokesperson for the Beverly Hills Police Department told Law&Crime in an email. “The BHPD Watch Commander requested the Santa Monica Police Department follow up. After SMPD contacted Camela Segura, she informed them that she was not in distress and did not want any police services.”

The beachside city of Santa Monica is located some 10 miles west of Beverly Hills.

“[O]fficers located her on 10/6 in Santa Monica,” a Santa Monica Police Department spokesperson told Law&Crime in an email. “She was well and refused assistance. We contacted Beverly Hills PD to let her know she had been found and then removed her from the Missing Persons System.”

The spokesperson declined to specify where in Santa Monica Leierth-Segura was found, citing the woman’s privacy.

Friends on social media also reported that Leierth-Segura is safe.

“I wanted to let you all know that my friend Camela who has been missing for the past three months was found yesterday,” friend Cecilia Foss posted in an Instagram story on Saturday, according to Deadline. “Her family has asked for privacy and I can’t share any of the details, but she is safe now. Thank you to everyone who helped look for her and shared her story, and to the Beverly Hills Police Department for doing an incredible job finding her.”
