Miami lawyer Daryl Bobby Fenton aka Daryl Fenton aka Bobby Fenton disappeared, at least professionally, and the Florida Bar investigators found cold trails when they looked for Fenton. Fenton, who hadn’t shown up for a client’s criminal court hearing, had been evicted from his apartment in a luxury high rise popular with Instagram influencers.
Also, when investigators went to Fenton’s Florida Bar address of record, they found a downtown Miami Irish pub.
A Miami Herald call to his business number found that line disconnected. Fenton’s been disbarred by the state Supreme Court, an action that will go into effect Saturday. He’d been a member of the Florida Bar since April 4, 2020, and managed to get himself into trouble even before he went ghost professionally.
Being behind on continuing legal education (CLE) requirements isn’t uncommon among attorneys, but Fenton got so delinquent that he was ineligible to practice in 2023 from Nov. 15 to Nov. 27. That didn’t stop him from filing a notice of appearance in a case on Nov. 21, 2023. The next day, his petition for Bar reinstatement said he didn’t practice law in Florida while he was behind on his CLE credits.
Fenton didn’t answer the Bar when it asked him to explain his claim. Where did Bobby go? Fenton filed a notice of appearance on Dec. 2, 2023 for Richardo Chardonnette, who was charged with misdemeanor resisting an officer without violence.
But, the report by discipline case referee, Judge Stacy Glick, says come the Jan. 17, 2024 trial, Chardonnette stood alone at the defendant’s table. “Mr. Chardonnette stated that he had no contact with [Fenton], who was not answering his phone calls,” the referee’s report said. “Judge (Robin) Faber called the phone number on [Fenton’s] pleadings, as well as a separate number listed on his bar member profile.”
